Buy yourself an inexpensive 40X telescope and some books on astronomy that are level with your reading skills and set up shop in your back yard or out your bedroom window.
Word of Advice: Focus on the moon that's up in the sky. Not that girl next door.
I don't mean the blue screen of death to represent the daytime sky. I meant the night sky. I want it to default to what the sky looks like to the naked eye, but let me "zoom" in to see farther away stuff as if I was using a telescope. I guess I want a virtual sky map and virtual telescope software. Is there such a thing already? It would be cool, wouldn't it?
I used to use a Dos programme called SkyGlobe.
The link below has some similar Windows offerings - but I haven't actually tried any...
I'm using The Sky 6 software taking images of objects ~16 magnitude.
Yet it can't find Vega within 3 arcmin.
Any help on why this software can't point my telescope correctly?
Also, I have been re-plotting stars for hours and I can't get within a degree of BL Lacertae...
Really, it must be a calibration error either in the software itself or on the physical system (i.e. the motor). not to worry though....
What type of telescope are you using?
Alt-Az or EQ?
Goto or push-to?
Does your normal alignment work?
