Kit Kids Beginners fish make good beginner pets for little kids?
one of my sister's friends just posted on facebook that they bought a brand new tank kit, hasn't said size yet, but said they bought 10 goldfish. Everything is brand new.
Then said the fish are a good beginner pet for her 3 year old son.
I don't agree with any of this personally. But why do people seem to think fish are no big deal and need no research before buying.
B, maybe if you read what I wrote. It's not my tank, it's someone else.
I have 3 kids myself and wouldn't expect any of my kids to be responsible for any of the fish in my 3 tanks.
Purple Monkey- there's no reason to change the gravel, really ever.
Goldfish die quickly. Your friend will either be replacing fish all the time or be teaching her 3 year old about death pretty soon. A turtle is a better idea.
i've decided i'd like to try tattooing, having drunkenly tattooed myself with a friend's gun, so i was thinking about buying my own kit, speaking to the right people and just trying out.
wheres a good place to start as a complete beginner? what to buy, how to practice etc? any good links would be cool,
also i'd like some sort of... instructions on how to design tattoos, ideas, templates. i'm not just some kid convinced i can make a living off of this, i'd just like to try it out for shits and giggles really.
Maybe go to your local tatoo parlour and ask for their advice??
And go around the internet and look for pictures of tatoos, then practice drawing them and then once you get the hang of doing that, you can create your own designs
Tube For Kids Help me out with tube baits - I'm a fly fisherman?
OK, I admit it, I was outfished last night by a bunch of kids using tube baits on the river for Smallies. They were amazed I was using a flyrod, but I gotta tell ya, they had a spare rod and tied a tube on for me and WOW !! Amazing results and I have no clue how to use them properly.
Any help with technique would be appreciated.
Well, there are a couple different riggings that can be productive.
My favorite is a weedless tube jig inserted into the tube- http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_74257____SearchResults
These weedless jigs are great for weedy/rocky structure.
Technique????- In a river I'd use a "crawdad retrieve"- short jerks with pauses. Think "crawdad".
A normal tube is fine for most situations but if your fishing in a "pressured" area or in a river system that is very clear try one of these. They can be VERY productive in the right situation- http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_45768_100007004_100000000_100007000?cmCat=CROSSSELL_PRODUCT
Telescope For Kids What is the best telescope for a beginner?
Hey I'm 17 and I've always loved astronomy since I was a kid and I had one of those cheap ones. But I want a nicer one. So any suggestions? And thanks!
I suggest you join an astronomy club or at least go to a couple star party's and see what you like. Most clubs have loaner telescopes you can take home once trained. Here is a link to clubs-

A good telescope for dso's(deep space objects) is the reflector type and the easiest to use and set up is a dob,(Dobsonian mount). To get a telescope that will give you views of Galaxy's,nebula, clusters and such you will need at least 6" aperture.
This is a good place to do some window shopping-
I have 2 of their telescopes a Starblast 6 and an XT 10-I love them both.
Thy really stand behind their products.
Stay away from e-bay and department store telescopes.
