Telescope Computer How can I know when to look for the planets? I just bought a telescope?
I ordered the telescope online and should get it within the next few days. It has a object-finding computer system, but I want to know what time at night I should start to look for Saturn and Jupiter. Is there a website that has that kind of stuff?
1) Join your local astronomy club. Even with an object finding scope you need help locating objects and understanding what you're looking at.
2) www.heavens-above.com can give your the rise, set, and transit times for all of the planets.
3) Stellarium is a freeware product that can also give you rise and set times of all the planets. Download it for free over the web.
4) Finally, www.skypub.com can give you all the information you're looking for.

Dobsonian Telescope Mirrors Is my 75mm hand mirror suitable for a dobsonian telescope?
I have seen wesites on how to build your own dobsonian telescope. I know that the primary mirrors of most dobsonian telescopes have a focal length ranging from 1000mm to 1200mm. But I do not know whether my hand mirror fits into this catagory. I don't mind having a telescope with a small aperture.
If you mean a hand/makeup/shaving mirror, then you are not the first person to try this. The first attempt to build a reflecting telescope by Niccolò Zucchi in 1616 was him trying to see an image made by one of these mirrors. It didn't work because it turns out a mirror has to have a curve that is 4 times more accurate than a lens. So no... won't work.
Have a look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Niccol%C3%B2_Zucchi for Zucchi's story.
Best Telescope For Kids i got a challenge for you all..i am looking for a old kids cartoon that i used to watch.?
The cartoon was about a collection of smaller cartoons from the books. The cartoon was narrated by two story teller characters. One of the characters was a long like telescope optical thing. One of the stories was a kid that wished on a star, and another one was a frog with a guitar. I think, it has been awhile. It came out in the late 80’s or early 90’s. if anyone knows what cartoon I am talking about then please post the title of the cartoon.
was it a Hans Christian Anderson type cartoon? He tells different stories in every episodes... and they're usually very good
