Astronomical Refractor Telescope What types of telescopes are out there what has zoom in/out features?

I'm looking for a Astronomical telescope what would me let me zoom in and out. I've got a Newtonian (Reflector) one what I'm currently using, but I'm finding it hard to search out stars with it, so I think a telescope what has a zoom in/out feature in it would help me find stars much more easily. Also, do Refractor, Maksutov or Schmidt Cassegrain telescopes have zoom in/out features?

Zooming is not a feature of telescopes, except for spotting scopes used for terrestrial observation. Instead it is a feature of eyepieces. While zoom eyepieces are available for telescopes, they are generally not recommended because they have optical problems as compared to normal single focal length eyepieces.
More to the point is to ask yourself what you are doing wrong that is making it hard for you to use your telescope. Most of the time when using your telescope you should be using the lowest magnification eyepiece, the one with the longest focal length, usually 25mm or 20mm. Once you've located something of interest, you may then want to switch to a more powerful eyepiece. It takes a bit of practice to remove one eyepiece, insert a second one, and refocus, but most astronomers learn this skill with a little practice. Sometimes this is made more difficult because of a flimsy mount,which is why I always recommend Dobsonian mounts for beginners' telescopes.
If your problem is finding objects in the sky, a zoom eyepiece won't help. A good finder on your telescope is the first step, along with a good star atlas, such as the Sky & Telescope Pocket Sky Atlas. Again, you need to practice finding bright objects.

When I say observatory I mean the dome that surrounds the more high-end telescopes, which opens when they want to use the telescope. I'm just curious as to what benefit a whole building around your telescope provides?

Can you use night vision equipment on a telescope?
I was just curious because when I'm out in the countryside and take along a nightvision monocular and look up at the stars I can see a lot more than with the naked eye. I've also seen some (what seems to be) pretty weird stuff when doing it.
I had an astronomy teacher who said that the night vision would be overwhelmed with the amount of infra-red light the telescope would pick up, but I'm not sure I neccessarily believe him. Does it work, or can you make it work with some kind of modification?
You can do it, but with a telescope it doesn't buy you as much.
The purpose of an image intensifier is to make dim thing brighter. That's also the primary purpose of the telescope's objective lens (or mirror). But the image intensifier has a big drawback: the image is lower resolution than you can get with your eye. Pinpoints of light widen out into blobs with the intensifier. In the telescope, pinpoints remain pinpoints, so you can see much more detail in the telescope alone than you can with the intensifier.
For that reason, not many people use an image intensifier with a telescope. But there are a few applications where fine detail is not needed and greater brightness is important, like searching for supernovae in distant galaxies. Some amateurs in those pursuits have used intensifiers to good effect.
